Nafen™ modified bonding agents, which are widely used in laminated composites (based on carbon and glass fibers), demonstrate enhancements of critical mechanical properties by 20-50%, which could result in a significant weight reduction for finished goods made of composite materials used in aerospace.
The modified composites demonstrate improvements in Interlaminar Shear Strength, Facing Stress, Tensile Strength, Tensile Modulus, Bending Stress, Fracture Toughness K1C and other mechanical properties. The added strength and light weight of NAFEN™ enhanced composites will help to reduce weight, improve fuel efficiency and better overall performance of the aircraft to be produced. A new generation of aircraft that consists of more than 50% composite materials (by weight) would be able to significantly reduce its total fully constructed weight.
